Cincinnati’s Monday Sports Manager

A round-up of the week’s sporting news

Reds
The Reds played a few games this week. They went 3 and 3. Volquez apparently pitched well on Sunday. I didn’t watch the game and I sure wasn’t there for Creation Museum Day. Is it football season yet?

Bengals
The Bengals won their first preseason game at Green Bay on Monday. But lost their first home preseason game last night versus the Lions, 27 to 10. In a bit of other news, NFL Central, the Bengals away-game party at Paul Brown Stadium, has been postponed until further notice. I always did this at least once a season and it seemed popular. I suspect they lost too much money on it. Oh, and Chad fell down. Dislocated shoulder. Out until the opener maybe.

Bearcats
Two things from the last week:
First, in the just released Pre-Season AP poll, UC is ranked somewhere around 30th. No matter. It only matters where you end up at the end of the season.
And second, Mauk lost his final appeal to the NCAA to play another season but is suing the NCAA to continue practicing with the team. I think the team is better with Mauk but we need to get behind Grutza.
