Announcement of the Bracket!
Thirty-two buildings and structures will compete this March to see who will be crowded the best in Cincinnati by our readers. "Teams" have been seeded by the Committee (me) and divided in to two regions – East & West. Two teams will be selected by a "play-in game" beginning Tuesday where folks can nominate their favorites not listed. The two to get the most mentions will join the competition for a shot at the title. The first games begin March 8. This year all Round 1 games will start on either Sunday or Wednesday and end on Tuesday or Friday respectfully. No voting will take place on saturday.
The Committee selections this year were based on their overall stats including, but not limited to, their history, importance, and over-all status in the community. Not all National Historic Landmarks (NHL) in Cincinnati were included. The committee again debated including the Village of Mariemont and the Glendale Historic District which are National Historic Landmarks but were deemed ineligible. Northern Kentucky’s only National Historic Landmark, the Daniel C. Beard Home in Covington, was also considered but the committee just decided to pass on an invite.
