I post exclusively from Windows Live Writer now. It's a Windows desktop app. You can post to multiple blogs, save drafts, set all tags and such, and insert photos. For images, it takes a bit of experimenting to get the settings right, but once you do you won't have to touch them.
I don't know if it will help this case, but I think it's the way to go in general.

I code mine -- using < img src = "(URL)" > code in the "Edit HTML" tab. I hate the Photo pop up.
I haven't had any problems. What problems are you having?
I can get then to insert in the post but then I can't move them anywhere.

I hand code all mine in using HTML editing. I don't like how Blogger handles the photos.
