Panhandler:
Hey, do you have fifteen cents I can have?
Me:
No.
Panhandler:
Well, why not?
Me:
'Cause you are sitting there drinking a 40.
Actual conversation yesterday evening around 8:00 PM in Piatt Park on way home from the gym. AND about a block after some other guy asked for fifty cents as he stumbled down Elm and leaned himself again Shilito Place. I should have not engaged him but I just get tired of it some days.

I guy asked me last night about that same time as I was walking down Walnut if he could have $1.50 for the bus. I said "no" but if he was stranded I could go ask the police officer who was standing outside his car at the end of the block if he would give him a lift. He said "nah" and just kind of walked away. That is my new thing when people need money...I will go find a nice local cop who I am sure would help them out!
I am guessing you were coming back from the Cincinnati Athletic Club..my hubby works out there.
If your husband is Mr.AWeeks then I know him. Or at least enough to say hi!
It is!! Ha! Have we met before? What is your Urbanohio name?
I'm BallHatGuy :)
I actually do not think we have met formally.
Awesome..such a small world.
There was a guy hanging out for awhile at Piatt Park that would get really abusive and I called the police a couple times on him. The last time he was harrassing people outside the Pheonix on a Saturday night shouting, you're all rich whites in your fancy clothes and I'm just a n****r. My wife was really shook up over that. But that was the last time I've seen him.
I walked by a kid around 10 yrs old sitting next to an older girl (sister, maybe) in front of the West End library a while back. As soon as the kid saw me, he blurted "You got a dollah?"
Just a kid and it's already a knee-jerk reaction.
