Happy Birthday Mercantile Library!

Today is the 174th birthday of the Mercantile Library!

On Thursday I attended the Founder's Day Lecture, a presentation by Jon Hughes on notorious Cincinnati reporter Lafcadio Hearn. There was even birthday cake.

Next year is the Merc's 175th birthday and there will be a big celebration. Maybe as a birthday present to them we make a push for 175 new members this year? Because let me just state again for the record, that younger folks need to become members of the Mercantile Library. We need to bring down the average age at these lectures!
