ARCHITREKS!

Walking Tours Begin This Weekend

Running from May and through October, ARCHITREKS is a program of the Cincinnati Preservation Association. Eight walking tours explore the architecture and history of Cincinnati from Downtown to some of our our historic neighborhoods. Each tour is approximately 2 hours long and costs $10 except the Findlay Market/Brewery District Tour which is approximately 1 hour and only $5.

Here is a brief schedule of all the tours for 2009, including a special Walnut Hills tour that will only be given four times.

Downtown
North Tour
& South Tour
1st Wednesday of the month at 11:00 AM
1st & 3rd Saturdays and Sundays at 2:00 PM
Guides for each separate tour leave from the Contemporary Art Center, 44 East Sixth Street
Over-the-Rhine
East Tour
& West Tour
2nd & 4th Saturdays at 10:00 AM
Guides for each separate tour leave from the Coffee Emporium at the Emery Center Apartments, 110 E. Central Parkway
Findlay Market/Brewery District Tour
1st & 3rd Saturdays at 10:00 AM
Leaving from outside the Findlay Market House, north side of Elder Street
Mt. Adams Tour
2nd Wednesday of the month at 11:00 AM
1st and 3rd Saturdays at 10:00 AM
Leaving from Koka Coffee, 1101 St. Gregory Street
Clifton Tour
3rd Wednesday of the month at 11:00 AM
2nd and 4th Saturdays at 2:00 PM
Leaving from the corner of Middleton and Rawson Woods Lane
Northside/Cumminsville Tour
4th Wednesday at 11:00 AM
2nd and 4th Sundays at 11:00 AM
Leaving from Sidewinder Coffee, 4181 Hamilton Avenue
Also, there will be a special Walnut Hills Tour the 5th weekends of May and August. These FREE tours will leave from the Parkside Café at 1026 East McMillan on Saturdays at 10:00 AM and Sundays at 11:00 AM. As "works-in-progress" these tours will be free and more information will follow in the month of May.

The Clifton house pictured use to be my Uncle's house. It was great. It had all sorts of fun things as a kid. Dumb waiters, servant bells, and other cool stuff.
