The Queen City and the Olympic Movement

Part II: The 2008 Cincinnati Olympians

With the Opening Ceremonies for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing on Friday, I thought we’d look at a few Olympic topics with links to the Queen City.

Today we are looking at 2008 Olympians with ties to Cincinnati. There are seven and the Enquirer has a nice summary of each of them. And beginning today they are doing a full profile of each on. In today's paper they started with Rau'Shee Warren. The seven Olympians are:

Heather Mitts, Soccer
Jason Parker, Shooting
David Payne, Track and Field
Patrick Todd, Rowing
Bryan Volpenhein, Rowing
Rau'Shee Warren, Boxing
Mary Wineberg, Track and Field

Many have competed in past Olympics. Jason Parker, Heather Mitts, Patrick Todd, Bryan Volpenhein, and Rau'Shee Warren all competed in the 2004 Olympics in Athens. Parker and Volpenhein also competed in the 2000 Olympics in Sydney.

Good Luck in Beijing!
