So why all the fuss about The Sound of Music? I've been asked a few times. Well, it is a curious question. I am actually not a big musical fan. There are a few I like . . . but not many. I think for me it is honestly a very personally connection to watching it with my mom every year growing up. I remember being scared when the family was trying to escape in the Convent. I remember Salzburg looking beautiful and fantastic. (I was an urbanite even at a young age.) My mom was a fan of the movie, so much so that she always wanted to go to the Von Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, Vermont. I don't know why she liked it so much. But I do know I just really enjoy watching it. It makes me happy. And what can be better than that?
Anyway, come on down to Fountain Square at 7:30 PM, TODAY, to watch the 1965 Academy Award winner for Best Picture, The Sound of Music. (Let's hope it clears up!)
