Weekend Warm-Up: May 9 – 11

My recommendations for something to do this weekend

Well it is Friday and I am a day late with the "Weekend Warm-up". Work was crazy yesterday so it postponed this post. For tonight and tomorrow night I suggest catching the Cincinnati Cyclones at US Bank Arena. They are in the Conference Finals and it should be a fun (and cheap) way to spend this Friday or Saturday evening. Then on Saturday morning is the NAMIwalks event and in the afternoon there is the CPA Spring Home Tour. Both events previously mentioned on this blog and others including Building-Cincinnati.

Then, for Sunday, it is Mother’s Day and the first Second Sunday on Main of the summer. The theme this month is "Take Mom to Main". Of note is the great music there this weekend including Tupelo Honey, Tracey Walker and the Seedy Seeds along with Messerly & Ewing and Jeff Scott Roberson. And, if you are going to Second Sunday, I have been noticing publicity for a painting exhibition that looks interesting. Scenes from Over-the-Rhine by Holly Schapker opens on Sunday with an opening reception and continues through June 11. The gallery showing is at 1600 Main Street. I am not familiar with the artist but from what I've seen I like the subject matter! (Her website doesn't seem to show her urban landscapes depicted in the poster I've seen.)

We went to the May Second Sunday last year and had a blast. Today, every time we debated about it, the rain would come again. I'm ready for some nice weather already.
