My recommendations for something to do this weekend
Friday kicks off a busy weekend of activities including the last weekend of bare: The Musical at the Know Theatre and continued performances of The Great American Trailer Park Musical at the Ensemble Theatre.
Saturday is the Kentucky Derby. I’m sure Fountain Square will be showing it on the big screen or you can go to the Cincinnati Athletic Club for the Derby Days Party. Tickets cost $40 but it is a benefit for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the event will be catered by Montgomery Inn. Call 241-0096 for tickets or contact the Cincinnati Athletic Club for more information.
Saturday is also the start of Architreks, the summertime walking tours of Cincinnati sponsored by the Cincinnati Preservation Association. And Saturday is also the start of the Spring Grove walking tours (10:00 AM "Obelisks & Columns"). In addition there is a Downtown Treasure Hunt sponsored by the European-American Chamber of Commerce and Alliance Francaise. Check links for more information.
Sunday is the Flying Pig Marathon. The actual marathon, half-marathon, and relay all start at 6:30 AM on Sunday but there are actually events associated with the Flying Pig all weekend. There are actually a number of Pig related events on Fountain Square on Friday including a party beginning at 5:00 PM and a special showing of the documentary, "Spirit of the Marathon" at 9:00 PM on the big screen. Check out the special Enquirer section or the Flying Pig Marathon website for all the details.
