I volunteer every year with the Future City Competition – Ohio Region. We are gearing up for this year’s competition. The Future City Competition allows 7th and 8th graders to work in teams of three to design a futuristic city using SimCity 3000 Unlimited, build it to scale in 3-D, write a 700 word essay (topic varies year to year) and a 500 word abstract, and present their products at COSI. If you like, you can check out http://www.futurecity.org/ or http://www.futurecityohio.org/ for more complete details. This year it looks like a few Cincinnati area schools are signed-up. But I’d love to see more Cincinnati area middle schools involved next year!
Here is a photo of Ohio’s winning school from last year’s competition – Heritage Middle School in Westerville, Ohio.
What these kids come up with always amazes me.
