Weekend Warm-Up: October 12 – 14

My recommendations for something to do this weekend.

There are a number of events going on posted on the Downtown Resident’s Council Calendar. Always a great place to start. It is always up to date and gives nearly every event happening downtown on a given day. For instance there is the free Ultimate Urban Tour of Living Saturday & Sunday, noon to 5:00 pm. And of course, the Bengals play the Chiefs at 1:00 on Sunday and you can watch the game on the big screen at Fountain Square (or at the Stadium in the East Club Lounge).

The DRC’s Calendar, however, does not venture much beyond downtown. So let me suggest some walking tours in Over-the-Rhine and Clifton. October is the last month of the year to catch Architreks, a program of the Cincinnati Preservation Association, before they close up shop for the winter. This weekend there are three tours one could do:
  • Clifton – October 13. Leaves at 10:00 am from the corner of Middleton & Rawson Woods Lane
  • Findlay Market Area – October 13. Leaves at noon from the north side of the market house.
  • Over-the-Rhine East – October 14. Leaves at 10:00 am from the Coffee Emporium, 110 E. Central Parkway.

Findlay Market tour is only $5 a person. All others are $10 a person.

And lastly, there is a big game here in town this weekend. It is UC’s Homecoming! The Homecoming Parade starts at 3:00 pm along Clifton Ave. and the big, already sold-out UC football game starts at 7:00 pm. Who’s all going? I’ll be there! Someone tell me how the Fountain SQUARE Dance & Movie Night went . . .
